Andrew Phelps’ Director Predictions
Andrew Phelps was asked by MXDJ to predict the future of Director. No new news here, but I’m starting to gather opinions before my October trip to the MAX Conference to find out for myself.
You can read his article here, accompanied by some annoying MXDJ video that has nothing to do with it. He basically guesses that “Director isn’t going anywhere”, which I so far agree with. He concludes by saying “I’m actually feeling pretty positive about the future of our beloved product. And having met some of the Macromedia team, I predict that our little environment will live on, and be enhanced in the future.”

Luke Wigley presents some very interesting rumours at lingoworkshop.com. If he is right, I’d say the future looks bright indeed!
We hope and pray…

Surely a program (flash) whose architecture was based on the need to move small files down a 56k dial-up pipe will lose more and more ground as more and more users switch to broadband. Then the focus will shift back to the power of the code base behind Director/Shockwave.
