Serenity

Just got back from a preview showing of Serenity, the new film by Joss Whedon, an extension of his TV show Firefly. A lot of people, myself included, have been waiting anxiously for this movie. I loved the TV show and was thrilled to get to see the movie a month early.

And I can now say: Wow. I had high expectations for this movie and I am not disappointed. It was excellent. Whedon has really become a masterful director. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone, so I will stop now. Anyway, here’s the movie Web site and aso one of the main fan sites.

Universal wants this to be the next big thing in sci-fi now that Star Wars and Star Trek are history. It just might be.

One Response to “Serenity”

  1. Josh Chunick Says:

I just finished watching a Labour Day Weekend Joss-athon of, I believe, every episode of Firefly. I had previously seen 1.5 episodes when it originally aired, but always seemed to miss it (could have been a ’scheduling conflict with another show I watched at the time). Anyways, I’ve always thought Joss Whedon’s writing was excellent. The dialog was on par with Angel and Buffy (yes, I watched those two series… for dialog alone they are brilliant shows). So, now I’m rather excited to see the movie when it comes out. It’s a wonder the show was cancelled in the first place. Maybe the movie will drum up new interest.
