Open Source and Director
Noticed the annoucement at Director Online concerning the open source OpenAL Xtra this morning:
“OpenAL Xtra is a free, open source scripting Xtra for Macromedia Director that extends Lingo with the basic functions of OpenAL, a cross-platform 3D audio API. With the OpenAL Xtra, a Director developer can arrange sounds around a virtual listener in a simulated, three-dimensional space.”
Checking out their subsite at sourceforge, it got me thinking if there were any other open source projects involving Director. There are 12. An interesting collection too, including a < AHREF=http://sourceforge.net/projects/webcamxtra>Web cam controller and a chess bot.

The question I’m asking is: Why aren’t these people promoting their work?… Well, good thing you’re out there searching, eh?
