Holiday Arcade: Santa’s Christmas Ride

We just posted a simple, fun game called Santa’s Christmas Ride at Holiday Arcade. What makes this different than our typical game is that we are making it available for free download. Mac and PC.

From a developer standpoint, this marks a switch-over for me to using ActionScript 2.0. Until now I have stuck with AS 1.0 to keep a Flash 5 compatibility. What was a show is the stand-alone file size. The .swf is only 88K, but that makes a 1.6 meg Mac projector and a 1.2 meg PC projector. Ouch. I think that’s pretty close to a stripped-down Director Projector. And there is a lot of waste too, as compressed .dmg and .zip versions trimmed off about 25% of the file size. I remember making Flash 4 projectors that were about 400K. That made for a nice free download.
