Flash 8 Released
Word on the street is that starting today, Macromedia DevNet subscribers can download Flash 8! But if you are not currently a subscriber to DevNet, then you are out of luck. This page says that “As of January 3, 2005, Macromedia … will discontinue sales of the DevNet subscription service.” What a great way to promote a discontinued service! I expect similar promotions for Fontographer and Extreme 3D any time now.

Good thing my DevNet subscription expired YESTERDAY! Haha.
Macromedia sucks. They planned this all along. Bait customers to subscribe to DevNET, those user pay a premium in hopes of recieving product sooner than others, recieving DRKs, and access to development tools. We never received products sooner, the DRKs were undocumented shit, and EVERYONE (even non-subscribers) received access to development versions of servers. So, we paid a premium for shit. And considering that they waited till one month AFTER the majority of subscribers subscriptions expired to release the next version… they screwed us again. How many subscribers paid for that 2nd year and didn’t recieve a god damn thing?
We went to MVLP ang got screwed by the Studio-Contribute merger + the huge price drop. Now we don’t even get the CDs in advance, but after people still on Devnet and after people downloading the trial.
Way to keep your devs happy MM…
