The Macromedia DevCon 2002 is getting close. It is Oct. 27-30 at Disney World. I’ll be speaking there on “What Director Can Do For Flash Developers.” My session will highlight the more advanced features of Director — the type of things that are not possible or hard to do in Flash. I hope to be able to meet a lot of Developer Dispatch readers there.

Greece just banned all computer games. Really! Don’t believe me? Read this article. Officials were trying to ban illegal gambling, but wrote a law that banned all computer gaming. Internet cafe operators have already been charged for letting people play Counter-Strike.

I’ve been asked to be a panelist at the Mobile Entertainment and Gaming Expo. The show is all about gaming and such on handheld devices like PDAs and phones. The conference is Oct. 23-24 in Hollywood, California. My session deals with Flash games on mobile devices. I’ve been experimenting with converting some of CleverMedia’s Flash games so they work on the PocketPC. Mostly, it involves strinking the screen size down quite a bit. But user controls and speed are an issue as well.
